...Iran - 1,000,000 Emergency Cheques x 2 ND2010

 جمهوری اسلامی ایران
(Islamic Republic of Iran)

بانک مرکزی جمهوری اسلامی ايران‎
(Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran)
Currency : Rial (IRR)

Posted below are two 1,000,000 rials Iran cheques first issued in 2010. Neither of the notes is printed with any year date. Like those emergency cheques issued, the designs on the back are only Farsi/Persian texts.

The main feature on the front is the image of the ancient ruins of Tachara in Persepolis. Persepolis is situated in the western side of Iran, closer to the Persian Gulf. The Tachara is also known as the Palace of Darius the Great. Building for the palace was started during the reign of Darius l (King of Kings b.550-486BC) and was only completed after his death by his son and successor, Xerxes l (b.518-465BC).

...Iran - 500000 Rials ND2018 Emergency Cheque**

 جمهوری اسلامی ایران
Islamic Republic of Iran

Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Currency : Rial (IRR)

This is a 500,000 rials reportedly issued in nd2018. This is an emergency cheque issued due to shortage of high value currency.

On the front, it depicts the Dome of Imam Reza Mosque and a minaret. The Imam Reza mosque is situated in Mashhad. There are eight minarets in this mosque all built at the height of 135 feet.

Mount Damavand is a snow capped mountain situated northeast of Tehran. The mountain is surrounded by hot springs and is still considered to be an active volcano. I am not sure if there are any proper roads built that can take you all the way there. The mountain is located approximately 130-140km from the capital city of Tehran. The mountain is about 18,400 feet tall and I believe during the winter time, the entire mountain is covered with snow. Whilst we may have heard of the world famous Mount Fuji in Japan, this mountain in Iran is about 6000 feet taller than Mount Fuji.

...Iran - 500000 Rials Emergency Cheque P154d 2014-2015

جمهوری اسلامی ایران
(Islamic Republic of Iran)

Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Currency : Rial (IRR)

This is the single 500,000 rials emergency cheque that I have for this series. It is believed that this was issued between 2014 and 2015. This note features the dome of Imam Reza mosque situated in Mashhad on the front and on the back is the Esmail Talayi fountain also in Mashhad. The fountain is situated in the Imam Reza mosque's court.

The Imam Reza mosque is a complex which contains the mausoleum of Imam Reza. Imam Reza was the eight Imam of Twelver Shias. The Imam Reza mosque is also the largest mosque in the world and no doubt is also a tourist center in Iran too. It is believed that the Imam mosque was established around 818 AD. It has eight minarets and the mosque is located in an area of over 267,000 square metres.

The signature on this note, I believe, belongs to Valiollah Seyf.

This note has since been replaced by the 2017 series.

...Iran - 500,000 Rials Emergency Cheques ND2002-2013

جمهوری اسلامی ایران
(Islamic Republic of Iran)

Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Currency : Rial (IRR)

I believe the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran first started issuing emergency cheques in the year 2000 or perhaps even earlier due to shortage in regular banknotes for high denominations. I am unable to confirm when these cheques were first issued as I only based on my own understanding from  observation.

Below, I have posted three emergency cheques of 500,000 rials each all sharing the same designs but with different signatures. I understand there are at least 4 varieties issued for this design but I only have three here. These notes were issued between 2002 and 2013.

Designs
Front : On the front it features the main building of the Imam Reza mosque in Mashhad. Mashhad is situated approximately 900 km from the east of Tehran. Mashhad is also located close to the border with Turkmenistan. The site for the mosque was first established around 818AD. This mosque is one of the main tourist attractions in Iran.
Back : Farsi writings with English text printed with the Central Bank of The Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran Cheque. The value of the cheque is also printed in English too.

These cheques were issued between 2002 and 2013.

...Iran - 20000 Rials ND2018 P153c

جمهوری اسلامی ایران
(Islamic Republic of Iran)

Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Currency : Rial (IRR)

This is an odd note that I have in my collection. I believe this note was issued in 2018. The signatures on this note belong to Abdolnaser Hemmati and Masoud Karbasian.

The design on the front depicts the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini, who ruled Iran from 1979 until his death in 1989. He was 89 years old.

On the back of the note, it features the Wind Catchers in Abarkooh. This building was built during the Qajar Dynasty and has been featured on the 20000 rials since 2015. Abarkooh is about 715 kilometers south of Tehran. The Qajar Dynasty ruled the State of Persian from 1789 to 1925. The Qajar's empire also once included the territories of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia before losing them all to the Russian in the 19th century.

This is an odd note of 10000 rials issued in 2017 (nd). Like all previously issued notes, the front of the note is printed with the portrait of late Ayatollah Ruthollah Khomeini and on the back depicts the Tomb of Hafez. Hafez was a 14th century writer and is considered one of the greatest Persian poets. The tomb is located in the city of Shiraz. It is not known when Hafez was born but he died in 1389. Hafez was born Khwaja Shams-ud-Din Muhammad Hafez-e Shieazi. The tomb is set in a garden-like surrounding and is a tourist attraction in Shiraz.

...Iran - 50000 Rials 2015 University of Tehran 80th Year Commemorative 1934-2014

The Islamic Republic of Iran

Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Currency : Rial (IRR)

This note was issued on 01.11.2015 commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the founding of University of Tehran (UT). The University was established in 1934 and it is also commonly known as the Mother University of Iran. The main University is located in the central part of Tehran but also has campuses located across the capital city.

Designs
Front - the portrait of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini (b.1902-1989). He was the Supreme leader of Iran from 1979 until his death. Khomeini was born in Khomeyn in Iran and went into exile in 1964. He returned back to Iran in 1979 following the fall of the Shah of Iran's government. He died of a heart attack on 03.06.1989, aged 86. Since 1979, almost all new notes issued are printed with his portrait printed on the front.

Back - On the back it appears to be the image of the planet Saturn on the right and the main entrance gate to the University of Tehran. The following texts are also printed on the note in both Farsi and English by Ferdowsi. Ferdowsi (b.940-1020) was a Persian poet: -

"Capable is the one who is wise.
Knowledge makes the old heart young.
Ferdowsi".

Footnote:⇨
Whilst this note was issued in 2015 and it has been reported that this note commemorates the 80th year of the University of Tehran (1934-2014), there is nothing to say that this note was issued for this purpose. In addition to this, I am also unable to find any year date printed on the note too, unless they are printed in Farsi on the front.

...Iran - 5000 Rials 2009 Commemorative

Here is a 50,000 rials note issued in 2009. I am not sure if this is a commemorative note, but it was first reported as one.  If this was a commemorative note, then the celebration is about Iran's achievements in Space.

.Iran - 200 Rials Overprint

I regretted this after buying this note. I believe this is not an authorised overprint and I was told that such overprint is not illegal either. Luckily it was not expensive. This is one lesson learnt, not to buy them again with this type of overprints.

.Iran - Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Here are nine miscellaneous notes issued between 1992 to 2006. I have grouped these together so that I do not have to create too many individual posts. Since these are odd notes from different series, I thought this would be the better option unless they come in a full set.
