Posted here are two notes issued in 1971 of 50 and 100 rials These two are commemorative notes celebrating the 2500th Anniversary of the Persian Empire. The Persian empire started from the 6th century BC and ended in 1979 (Pahlavi dynasty). At the height of the empire it occupied land as far as north Africa and small part of eastern Europe.
