Asia here is only referred to Southern Asia and the rest of Western (Middle East) and Central Asia. I have separated SouthEast Asia and East Asia with different links here.

many of the banknotes posted here do not need descriptions. the designs are beautiful enough for me to add any more details - a picture is worth a thousand words

.Bhutan - 1000 Ngultrum Series 2016 Commemorative

This is a Commemorative note of 1000 Ngultrum released on 21.09.2016. The note was issued to celebrate the birth of his Royal Highness, The Gyalsey, Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck (b.05.02.2016). The word Gyalsey in Bhutanese means Prince. The design for this note is the same as the previous Commemorative issue in 2008 (P34), but with additional texts added to the design on both front and back. On the front the words - Celebrating the Birth of The Gyalsey, February 5, 2016 is added in the middle of the note in silver colour and on the reverse side it printed with the text - Birth of the Prince of Bhutan. Not sure why the commemorative texts on both sides are in English and not Bhutanese. This note is printed with Series 2016 and has a wider security thread. Also the title of the bank governor is in English and not Bhutanese. A total of 3,420,000 notes issued all with letter prefix W (and replacement). The note is measured 175mm x 60mm. Signature - Governor Dasho Daw Tenzin (appointed 18.08.2010).

The 1000 Ngultrum is the largest currency circulating in the country.
