গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ
(Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh)
Bangladesh Bank
Currency : Taka (BDT)
Here are three low denominations of specimen banknotes all dated 2018. These are relatively cheap notes and I have a feeling that they were sold as souvenirs, but I can confirm that as I have nothing to back me up. There are plenty on sale at the moment and one can only guess this is the case. The word 'SPECIMEN' is only printed on the front but not on the back and all notes have the 7 zeros printed as the serial numbers. Older Specimen notes issued in Bangladesh have the word Specimen printed on both sides of the note.
I am a bit skeptical about these specimen notes. If you look at the three notes that I have posted here, the word 'SPECIMEN' is diagonally printed over the watermark area, which is expected. However, I have seen these same specimen notes with the word 'SPECIMEN' printed horizontally in the middle of the notes. The question here is why are there two versions of these specimen notes for the same series? Are these specimen notes mass produced by the central bank as numismatic items?
