Federal Republic of Nepal
Nepal Rastra Bank
(Nepal National Bank)
Currency : Rupee (NPR)
This is an odd note of 5 rupees from the Federal Republic of Nepal, issued in 2017. Unlike those issued prior to 2007, all notes were printed with the portrait of the King. This changed in May 2008 following the abolishing of the monarchy. The Nepal monarchy was first started in 1768. The last King of Nepal was Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah. Since then all new notes are printed with the image of Mount Everest, replacing the portrait of the last King, Despite losing his crown, he is still residing in the country as a commoner.
Designs:
Front - Mount Everest, image of Taleju temple located in Kathmandu Durbar Square.
Back - a single yake with Mount Everest in the background. Previous 5 rupees notes were printed with two yaks.
