Asia here is only referred to Southern Asia and the rest of Western (Middle East) and Central Asia. I have separated SouthEast Asia and East Asia with different links here.

many of the banknotes posted here do not need descriptions. the designs are beautiful enough for me to add any more details - a picture is worth a thousand words

Two Thousand Pounds

Front - Mosque at the center. Bashar al-Assad at right. Bashar al-Assad was the second son of the late Syrian President, Hafez al-Assad (b.1930-2000). He succeeded his father as President of Syria in 2000 following the death of his father from a heart attack. He only became the heir apparent following the death of his eldest brother in a car accident in 1994. At the time of his father's death, Bashar al-Assad was only 34 years old and was not qualified to take over the President role as the minimum age required was 40. To overcome this, Parliament then reduced the requirement to Bashar's age so that he can become the next President. He was President of Syria from 2000 to 2024 when he was forced into exile by the rebel group headed by Ahmed al-Sharaa. It is believed that Bashar al-Assad is now living in Moscow, Russia. It is also reported that he has gone back to school to brush up with his ophthalmology lessons. Ophthalmology is a passion of his and if he is to return to this profession, it is expected that he will target those wealthy elites in Moscow as his clientele.
