I believe the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran first started issuing emergency cheques in the year 2000 or perhaps even earlier due to shortage in regular banknotes for high denominations. I am unable to confirm when these cheques were first issued as I only based on my own understanding from observation.

Below, I have posted three emergency cheques of 500,000 rials each all shared the same designs but with different signatures. I understand there are at least 4 varieties issued for this designed but I only have three here. These notes were issued between 2002 and 2013.

Designs
Front : On the front it features the main building of the Iman Reza mosque in Mashhad. Mashhad is situated approximately 900 km from the east of Tehran. Mashhad is also located close to the border with Turkmenistan. The site for the mosque was first established around 818AD. This mosque is one of the main tourists attraction in Iran.
Back : Farsi writings with English text printed with Central Bank of The Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran Cheque. The value of the cheque is also printed in English too.

These cheques were issued between 2002 and 2013.
