Asia here is only referred to Southern Asia and the rest of Western (Middle East) and Central Asia. I have separated SouthEast Asia and East Asia with different links here.

many of the banknotes posted here do not need descriptions. the designs are beautiful enough for me to add any more details - a picture is worth a thousand words

.Saudi Arabia - 5 Riyals Dated 2020 Polymer

ٱلْمَمْلَكَة ٱلْعَرَبِيَّة ٱلسَّعُوْدِيَّة
(The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)

Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA)
Currency - Riyal (SAR)

On the 05.10.2020, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency released a new 5 riyals polymer banknote into circulation. This is the first time a polymer banknote is issued in Saudi Arabia. The design of this note is basically the same as the one first issued in 2016 but instead printed on polymer substrate.

On the front of the note, it depicts the portrait of the current King of Saudi Arabia, King Salam bin Abdulaizi Al Saud. In the background is an image of an oil refinery complex. On the back is a scene of flowers blooming in the wild.

Whilst the new note is almost identical to the last paper note but because this is a polymer note, the watermark area has been replaced by a see-through window and on it printed with the country's Coat of Arms (a palm tree over two crossed Arabian swords). This note is printed with the year date of 2020.

SAMA is the 65th issuing authority that has released a banknote in polymer since 1988.
