.Bhutan - 100 Ngultrum 2017 Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck Commemorative

This is the second banknote issued to celebrate the young prince, Jigme Namgyet Wangchuck. The crown prince was born on 05.02.2016. In 2016, a 1000 Ngultrum was issued celebrating the royal birth of the prince. This note is for the celebration of the prince first birthday, and the note is printed with the following texts - Commemorating the First Birth Anniversary of
HRH The Gyalsey (Prince).

The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan us honoured to venerate the first birth anniversary of His Royal Highness the Gyalsey, Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck (born on February 5, 2016), with the release of a commemorative Nu. 100 denomination banknote.

The presence of the Gyalsey among us is a personification of deeply auspicious tendril, signifying his own and our collective destiny. It is the accumulation of our collective merit and good karma that we witness three successive generations of the Wangchuck dynasty, a phenomenon that assures the continuity and stability of our kingdom.

Thus the obverse side of the commemorative banknote portrays His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo and her majesty The Gyaltsuen, and his Royal Highness the Gyalsey, Embodying our proud past, the vibrant present, and a future of hope.

The reverse side of the commemorative banknote features a pair of jewel-clasping dragons that symbolise our inner resilience. Just as all Bhutanese draw our inspiration and strength from the Druk Gyalpos, the dragons epitomise the stability and prosperity of Bhutan as personified by our Hereditary Monarchs. The reverse side also features the mighty Himalayan range, rising from the premises of a glacial lake, to illustrate Bhutan's beautiful pristine natural beauty and balanced ecology.

The commemorative banknote reflects the national colours of Bhutan.

Footnote:
If my memory serves me right, this would be the youngest portrait of any Prince or Princess ever appears on a banknote. Even Queen Elizabeth the Second can't beat him. The Queen (then Princess) was 8 years old when her portrait appeared on the Canadian $20 banknote in 1935. I am not sure if any banknotes have issues that have a portrait younger than this Bhutanese prince.
